DCCR received a request through the website from a single mom of 2. Mom had been battling a lot of illnesses in her household, therefore had to miss a lot of work. Due to all the absences, she lost her job, which caused her to fall behind on her rent and utilities. Mom even tried supplementing her income by selling tamales. She did search for other assistance, for example DHHS assisted with her MUD utility bill. The application was approved for assistance and the family was able to avoid eviction and an OPPD Shut-off. Mom is currently working with her previous employer to have her job back. She expressed her appreciation for DCCR’s help, during this difficult time.
